Irv PawWord Story
Hey Dad,
Just another day in Spencerville. Chased after mischiefs from Pawsome Pancakes to The Pampered Pooch Salon. Stumbled upon a tussle at Bow-Wow Burgers. Sent Rocky home with his tail between his legs. Good thing there are no cucumbers here. Ended the day cuddling with my firetruck toy, another fun day with my pack. As they say, every dog indeed has his day.
– Your firetruck-loving bulldog, Irv.
Every day in Spencerville was just like an offering from the Petfather, a gourmet biscuit tossed my way, if you’d ask me. As an upholder of peace, much like my human dad, I considered it my duty to maintain an order of harmony in our town. My days were usually planned around cordial visits to Labradoodle Lake, or meetings at Pug Palace or just tagging along with Woody on his veggie escapades around North Chihuahua Castle.
One leisurely afternoon, as I pondered over the offerings at Pup-Peroni, there was a sudden surge of commotion. Rocky had broken into a brawl with some scruffy newcomer over a meal at Bow-Wow Burgers. Well, that’s Spencerville for you, it was mostly sunny with a slight chance of dog disputes.
“On three we go in,” I declared, maintaining my bulldog bravado. Woody and Bella nodded in agreement.
Breaking up dogfights was never on my to-do list, though. But I consider it an unspoken part of my job description, a peculiarly Spencervillian twist to my otherwise sweet deal. Post our successful placating, we’d usually head to The Dapper Dog Salon for a fresh sprucing up.
Rolling around the green expanses of Labradoodle lake later, I’d usually put some thought into the day’s events. It’s funny, how even here in Spencerville, there were disputes, brawls, and whatnot, mirroring the human world we had once been a part of but unlike the dog-eat-dog reality of human monotony, here, we reconcile, forgive, and move onto the next playful day.
One time, my human dad sneaked some cucumber into my chicken treats, I appreciated his effort but for this sturdy bulldog, cucumbers were a no-no. In Spencerville, fortunately, the thought of cucumbers was far flung.
In the evenings, the Doggie Daycare would echo with stories of our adventures, of the mischief at Pawsome Pancakes that Bella so loved to create, or the time Woody literally ran face-first into the signboard at The Pampered Pooch Salon, thinking it was a giant vegetable.
Soon, darkness would fold in, casting shadows over Spencerville like a blanket, lulling it into serene slumber. Irv the bulldog, the reluctant peacemaker would retire for the day, to the familiar squeak of his beloved firetruck toy, at peace yet on call. After all, in Spencerville, the work of a pet mob boss is never truly done. And to quote my favourite wisdom, every dog indeed has his day, and with the right touch of spirited episodes, every day can indeed be a dog’s day!
The End.
