On gig day, let’s just say we rocked Pawsburgh! Beagle mastered the drums, Dalmatian got strumming and yours truly became a triangle-playing sensation. Hello there, allow me to regale you with a tale that’s been the talk of Pawsburgh. And who, you may ask, is our glamorous protagonist? Why, none other than your favorite smelly, squirrel-toy-loving, water-detesting, lamb-chop-devouring cuddle monster, Hof!

The day began as any other. I was idling in my favorite spot – the lush and familiar greenfield of the Bully Dog park when the scent of mischief came knocking on my proverbial door. It was as if Lower Dalmatian Desert itself had been whisked up in a twister of juicy lamb chops and zesty K9 Kebabs, a little hint of the Fishy Bites from the restaurant on Beagle Beach. My tail twitched with excitement – adventure was calling.

My paws, acting autonomously from the senses, hastened me to the sounds of music emanating from the Pawfect Training Center. The Dalmatian next door was tuning his guitar, and the Beagle with the red spots was struggling with the drums. It smelled like sitcom stuff, the underdog sort of thing – eight paws, one beat, no idea what they were doing.

You see, in Pawsburgh every dog has his day, but not every dog has his band. And so, really, it was a no-brainer. Despite my general aversion to anything that involves water, apart from drinking it, I found myself akin to a bulldog paddling on drumming seas. Doing my part for the greater canine good, you could say, or maybe just seeking my fifteen minutes in the dog-park spotlight.

Life was a rollercoaster of K9 Kebabs and botched musical rehearsals. There were humorous hiccups of course, me being tone-deaf and the fact that a Beagle couldn’t hold a beat to save his life. And let’s not forget the time Dalmatian fell off the makeshift stage at Collie Canyon. It’s not easy to nurse a bruised ego and fractured guitar, but he soldiered on.

The weeks rolled on, rehearsals became less of a catastrophe as the Beagle discovered his beat, Dalmatian found his chords, and I – well, I discovered the profound power of the triangle. To each their own, dear friend.

And then, the day of our first performance arrived. A crowd of familiar and unfamiliar muzzles gathered at the Pawfect Training Center. The tension was palpable, like a beef jerky just out of reach. I must admit, it was scary, even more than my dear dad’s attempts at preparing spinach. But, as Dad often says, “Courage is fear walking.”

In the end, the marveled woofs of our friends at Pawsburgh, echoing through the canyons of Collie and the flatlands of Lower Dalmatian Desert, told our success story. The Beagle harvested rhythm like the best K9 Kebabs, the Dalmatian strung melodies like lovely Fishy Bites, and I… well, I seized my moments to ring that triangle as if it were the dinner bell on lamb chop night.

And that, my dear friend, was a day (or more, really) in the life of Hof, your commonplace, band-playing, triangle-loving bulldog. It was straight out of a sitcom, and I, for one, wouldn’t have it any other way.
