But–speaking of belly rumbles, Spencerville wasn’t feeling too spunky. Felt a shake, saw Alfie running with tail between his legs. Even joked it was a late dash to Spa for Paws but things got darker. Met Lambeau by the fountain seeming too a-chill for comfort.

Whole place went into night mode. Walkies were on pause. Remember that peanut butter allergy? Turns out, it sniffed out potential legume looters.

As I bounded down the avenue of Brindle Brown Boxer Beach, the spray of the sea scent filled my nostrils – the smell of freedom. The day progressed, an ordinary one, filled with the promise of treats and play from Sniff ‘n’ Snack, a quick flit through Barking Boutique and possibly an afternoon lounge with Daphne, my Beagle sister in Golden Gate Gardens. Typical Spencerville. But deep inside me, a rumbling unease persisted. The sun was edging away, and the night closed in.

Lambeau standing rigid by the fountain in the center of Spencerville. “What’s going on?” Think, Jasper, think. Maybe it was an allergy flare-up from Pawsitively Purrfect Pet Store?

I wasn’t just any playful Chihuahua-Jack Russell mix, a pampered town mascot. I’d been grooming my instincts, ready to guard my friends and my home, training them for something more significant. I marshaled my posse – Nigel, Bonzi, Raffa – and together we faced this unknown threat.

We braced ourselves for the apocalypse we never dreamt we’d face. Night in Spencerville shifted from joy and snoozes to full alert. Walks and car rides were checked against neighborhood safety. Peanut butter? Surprisingly, my allergy was a blessing, signaling dangers in legume looters’ traces.

And so, we embarked on our journey, In the dawn of a different Spencerville, but one we were ready to face. A lively Chihuahua-Jack Russell mix? Try a protector, a guardian, a friend. Rule number one – nobody messes with Jasper’s Spencerville.
