mugsy PawWord Story
Hey Mom,
You won’t believe what happened today! Me, Mugzelli, ended up on a grand adventure. It started in Pupsicle Palace, a treat with Minnie Pearl led to us tasting ‘fish-popsicles’. Next thing me and the gang know, we’re in this old boat (blame it on Bandit), sailing away.
Okay, you ready for this? We got shipwrecked on an uncharted island! I know, right! But us being the brave hearts we are, made the best of it. Bandit found food, Shmu sniffed out rival restaurant secrets and overall, we had a sitcom-worthy day.
Anyway, we’re going to spend the night here. Don’t worry about me, after all, I’m the White Boy who managed to turn a day from ordinary to extraordinary. We’ll see what tomorrow brings, apart from getting back home.
Stay tail-wagging,
Mugzelli, Big M.
When you’re a dog of my disposition — loyal yet discerning, easygoing yet adventurous — you never know when a day in Pawsburgh might turn into an epic adventure rivaling a hit television series. In this case, we’re talking about that time Mugsy and his gang absurdly ended up shipwrecked on an uncharted dog island. Well, “Lost”, eat your heart out!
Right down do business. Day started casually at the Pupsicle Palace. Minnie Pearl, with her dreamy corgi eyes, sweet-talked me with her poetic notions. “I hear the fish-flavored popsicles taste just like the Mediterranean Sea, Mugs,” she said.
ChiChi in one fit of uncharacteristic romanticism bought round after round of these treats. Listen, I’m a simple fellow, I stick to the ground beef I know and love. But there we were, lapping away like seafaring adventurers, little did we know…
It started with Bandit. I should’ve figured, ‘always the scapegrace!’ He’d spotted this rickety old boat tied up to this equally dodgy post. The next thing I knew, my stubborn bulldog self couldn’t resist the lure of adventure as I hopped aboard thinking that’s all there would be to it. I blame the popsicle hallucination.
Without any preamble, we happened to be drifting away before we knew it. And then, just when we thought our spontaneity had indeed had a good laugh at our expense, we landed at the craziest place – the Isle of Pawsburgh. Ever heard? Me neither!
The island was no Dalmatian Desert, it was teeming with actual life! A sense of dread was starting to unfurl in my gut but then the notorious bright side of being a pacifist American Bulldog kicked in. Hanging with my buddies, unpredictable adventure on the plate, could the day get any better?
In no time, our survival instincts kicked in. We began by using our collective strengths. Bandit went off and found a satisfactory addendum to my beloved cow hoof, a truly unexpected yet satisfying moment. Shmu came back smelling of something soup-like that was being cooked at a rival restaurant, Fishy Bites. His smile suggested that we’d beaten them at their own game.
The ironically bright night welcomed us with a strange sense of exhilaration amidst the uncertainty. There is something about being surrounded by your friends, having bizarrely tasted a fish popsicle that hinted of the ocean that took us to the unknown, and knowing that each one of your comrades has your back.
Looking at our predicament – shipwrecked dogs on a dubious island – you’d think we’d be scared, right? Welp, not really. Before we knew it, adventure had turned into a sitcom, and surviving turned into some reality show hijinks.
And so, my day ended. A simple day in Pawsburgh it was not, but an epic grand adventure it definitely was. And just like that, Neil Simon penned down his next mutt-melodrama, a band of furry tail-wagging survivors working through the mayhem of an unexpected adventure.
Ah well! Who would’ve thought that I, Mugsy – a Bulldog who loves his beef and detests the vacuum cleaner – would end up giving “Lost” a run for its ratings? Now if only I could figure out how to get back home. Guess that’s a tale for another day. Overnight in Pawsburgh, anyone?
The End.
