Gus PawWord Story
Hey Mom, it’s Gus Gus here. Good ole Spencerville is doggie nirvana! Super sunny days and a perma-crown shine on my fur! Found an irresistible box earlier near Fetching Feline. Tried a cream pie but still can’t brave watermelon! Anyway, guess what? Joined an impromptu dog race at Shih Tzu Stadium. Bulldogs not made for sprints, but I gave it my Bulldog run! This afterlife is all about playfulness and bully bravado, minus the creepy vets. Still got my scruffy charm and endless energy. Living it up just like I did back home. XOXO, Gus the Destroyer
So there I am, running along Bullmastiff Boardwalk in Spencerville. It’s a good day, a Gus day if you ask me. And who’s to say I don’t deserve the best day, even if it is in dog heaven pretty much. The wet breeze slathers my sleek fur, causing my trademark white stripe to glimmer in the balmy sunlight. Much like wearing a crown, except it’s always on – like a perma-crown.
As I sprint past Paws-A-Latte, then Bow Wow Burgers, and just about to reach Kibble Cuisine, I spy a deliciously enticing cardboard box. It’s been abandoned nearby The Fetching Feline Pet Emporium — and, you know I can’t resist a good box. So, I put my run on pause and slide towards it, indulging in the momentary distraction.
Well, distractions and diversions, they’re my thing! Ever taken a bite of an oatmeal cream pie? I can hear you groan. But imagine washing it down with a sloppy swig of cold water from a lake, invigorating, right? Extravaganza at its best. And hey, watermelon? No can do. In my afterlife, there are some things—I just can’t come around to.
Also, let me tell you, vets are the same everywhere, even in Spencerville. The antiseptic smell, the cold disquieting table — just give me the creepy crawlies. Be it on earth or in doggie nirvana!
Oh, and the lake here – it’s fantastic! Such a vast amount of water to splash in. It beats any old swimming pool – something so confined, so limiting, you know.
So, there I am again, having a little diversion, when I spy with my bulldog eye, a competitive race – doggy style, on the horizon right at Shih Tzu Stadium. We Bulldogs aren’t much for running, but what the belly flop — I jump right in. An energetic bundle of tan fur competing with lithe agile greyhounds and nimble-footed collies, but I didn’t care. I run, stumble, pant, but keep going, ’cause that’s what Gus does, oh yes, he goes for it.
A man, or a bulldog in my case, gotta live his afterlife just like his life — with playfulness, bravado, and a big juicy slab of stubbornness. So yes, I might snarl at a vacuum cleaner, and pesky watermelons might earn my wrath, but that’s me, Gus — lovably stubborn, fiercely loyal, and perpetually energetic, living it up in Spencerville!
The End.
