Lucy PawWord Story
“Hey Mom, guess what? Lulu–our pasta-loving, apple-hating English Bulldog–just saved Spencerville from a slimy, apple-like alien invasion! I kid you not. After a chase across the desert, she sent ’em packing faster than a meatloaf meal at Chow Hound Cafe. She’s back home now, ignoring the celebrations and waiting out the rain. Nothing’s changed. Well, except now we’ve got a hero in the house. 🐶❤️ – Lulu”
I bet you’d never guess who led the charge during the Great Alien Invasion of Spencerville. And no, it wasn’t the mayor, or even postman Larry, who swears on his mother’s name he’s seen extraterrestrial activity after a couple cold ones at The Bow Wow Bistro. Nah, it was Lucy, that irresistible English Bulldog with a heart bigger than the Chow Hound Cafe’s award-wining meatloaf.
You see, Lucy was the same lovable goofball the day the skies over Shepherd Skyline suddenly turned emerald green as she was on an ordinary Sunday, wagging her tail at the mere thought of pasta or a tumble with her trusty orange pull toy. But even among the mass confusion at The Snooty Snout Boutique sale and the hysteria brewing at The Pawsome Pet Pharmacy, Lucy showed a certain bravery. That was her element. Always was. Tenacious as all get-up. Stubborn too, but let’s just call that courage under fire, shall we?
What’s that? How did I find out? We were in Husky Hill, her least favourite place, the day the invasion began. I was gonna surprise her with green beans from the Open Paws Farmer Market, but suddenly, the aliens descended. They were slimy, small things, sort of like apples, which Lucy has this inexplicable hatred for. I tell ya, Lucy took one look at them and charged! Never seen a creature bolt so fast, and I haven’t since.
Virtually chased ’em clear across Lower Dalmatian Desert. Trust me, you’ve never seen a sight till you’ve watched a white English Bulldog chase apple-like aliens under the desert sun. Lucy charging ahead, her orange pull toy clenched between her teeth like some kind of battle standard. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.
Truth be told, the whole ordeal was over quicker than a pasta dinner at her bowl. The aliens must have realized that if they couldn’t stand up to one fiercely loyal bulldog, there was no way they’d manage to overrun Spencerville. They turned tail, leaving behind one scared but spirited town and one bulldog who was more of a hero than she’d admit.
You know how she is. Stubborn. She didn’t stick around for the celebration at Yappy Yogurt. Not Lucy. She just wanted to go home, curl up in her corner and wait for the rain to stop. It was always about the simple things with her. It’s why we adore her so much.
For all its quirks and odd happenings, might not seem much to some, but for us, Spencerville hasn’t just been a home. It’s been an adventure, one that’s been all the more spectacular with Lucille – err, I mean Lucy, around. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else, and I know, deep down, neither would Lucy. Wouldn’t trade us, her town, or even the green beans. And definitely not that orange pull toy!
The End.
