Larkin PawWord Story
“Morning cuddles, breakfast feast, and a vet visit with partner-in-crime Sadie. Owned the backyard, had a laugh in sundresses at Maltese Meadow, lettuce-less dinner at Pup-Peroni, and a sunset race at Shepherd Skyline. Ended the day picking out a new bird stuffy and enjoying cozy fireside moments. Who defies vacuum cleaners and loves bacon grease? Only your Larkinator! Sweet dreams, fam. š¾”
I woke up to feel a small thud against my leg – Larkin, who else could it be? She always jumped onto my bed in the early morning, her own doggy alarm clock. A streak of sunlight filtered through the blinds, reflecting in her distinctive brindle and white coat. Those two dark patches, what she earned battling the during the alpacia seasons added to her charm.
A day in Spencerville always started with Larkin, my chunk of endless energy. Breakfast was next, her food devoured in an instant ā the more bacon grease sprinkled over her kibble, the faster it disappeared.
We went for our morning vet visit to Woof and Whisker Wellness Center where her stubborn streak shined. Trying to make her take her vitamins was a battle of wills. From the corner of my eye, I caught Sadie, the snazzy black schnauzer, her partner in crime entering the vet with her owner.
Alone in the backyard, Larkin claimed her territory. This was her kingdom, away from the dread of the vacuum cleaner, away from the loud noises, which she, for the love of dog, canāt understand why existed. Observing her chomping bone with serene satisfaction was my idea of a perfect morning routine.
The afternoon called for relaxation at Maltese Meadow, with Sadie. Dressed in their matching sundresses, their shenanigans became the talk of puppy paradise. Then we had a dinner reservation at Pup-Peroni, where the only item Larkin would refuse was lettuce. Fussy wouldnāt begin to describe it.
Sunset at Shepherd Skyline was nothing short of magic. Larkin loved to race with Sadie against the setting sun. Joy, as I saw it, was reflected in their gleaming eyes and wagging tails.
Completing our day with a trip to The Barking Boutique, Larkin picked out a new bird stuffy, reminding me the gift from Aunt Jenny she tore apart. As the night let down its dark veil over Spencerville, we returned home, both weary but happy.
Before bed, we sat by the fireplace, Larkinās head resting on my lap. Her loyalty, bravery, even her stubborn independence, added to life’s rich palette. Staring at those dark patches, I remembered they were more than just marks on her coat – they were badges, earned through battles fought and won, a part of who she was.
And so, another day ended in Spencerville, with her paw tucked into mine. A reminder that we were in this together – sharing silent moments of contentment, love, and a good blanket. What more could I ask for? After all, every day was an adventure with Larkin. Every day was a day in the life in Spencerville.
The End.
