Baxter PawWord Story
“Hey, what a night! Nose-dived into silver beast at the door, broccoli everywhere, hilarity ensues. Rained on my chicken taco parade at the Fur Tacos. Took an involuntary dip at Poodle Pond, lost Lambie mid-swim. Snow suits and pink fur at Pet Partners – not my scene! Life’s a hoot, even with a friendly jab from the Pawsburg gang. Lesson learned: live, laugh, skip the broccoli. Barks and kisses, Baxter AKA Little Man.”
Well, there I was. It’s Baxter, your favorite one-eyed Chihuahua, just about to sneak off to good ol’ Pawsburg, the dream refuge for canines on sleepy nights when our caretakers are off to dreamland. As I was to make my usual dash past a sleeping heap called a human, I stumbled upon a rogue vacuum cleaner, the silver beast, placed strategically (or so I thought) at the doorway. Rumbling at the mere sight of it, I scuttled around in a hurried frenzy, knocking over a bowl of that dreaded broccoli – a lapse leading to more, as you’ll soon see.
My first stop in Pawsburg, as always, was Fur Tacos – I had a hankering for a delicious chicken dish that night. No sooner had I draped myself over the barstool, when a raindrop crashed onto the back of my neck. Rain, another one of those dreaded elements I’d rather avoid. Panic ensued and the chicken taco slipped out of my grasp, hurtling towards the floor. The staff, regulars, and some unfamiliar snouts burst out laughing. I felt my ears heat up in embarrassment. A comedy of errors indeed.
Next, I made my way to Westie Woods, praying for a reprieve. Suddenly, I sensed water at my paws. In my muddled state and brief moment of fleeting forgetfulness, I’d landed in Poodle Pond. Well, ain’t this just dandy, Baxter? Swimming – another point on my ‘avoid at all costs’ list. And if that wasn’t enough, my beloved Lamb Chop went floating downstream. The chorus of canine laughter echoed through the woods – a symphony of mockery that stung my ears.
My final attempt to salvage the night led me to Pet Partners Pet Supplies. But the universe had not run out of mishaps for yours truly. I ran into the display of those crinkly, cold, and unpleasant snow suits. The showroom erupted into laughter, as I scampered out, draped in bubblegum pink fur, looking more like a poodle than the dashing Chihuahua I aspire to be.
In the heart of the madness, the escapades, the botched adventures, and outright blunders, I learned that the comedy of errors that is my life was an endless source of amusement for my Pawsburg pals. And when you’re a one-eyed Chihuahua in a Howard Beale world, loving life is about seeing the humor in it all, even on a rainy day in Pawsburg, and being glad you aren’t home alone munching on broccoli.
The End.
