Sampson PawWord Story
“Morning folks! Went to Chihuahua Castle, fell for Bella, a Cocker Spaniel. Almost got into a tiff with Bella’s dad—turns out he’s that scary delivery guy! Solved our differences over sushi at Cat’s Meow. Guess today wasn’t just about bacon and kibble. Love really is quirky, ain’t it? Third wheeling Ollie says hi btw. Fetch ya later, Pumpkin Pie.”
What a day, huh? In Pawsburg, every moment is seeping with excitement! Not your run-of-the-mill excitement, but real thrill, like the anticipation of seeing your favorite pizza crust and double-blue Buffalo kibble meal at The Barkery, right after a solid run around Golden Gate Gardens. But I’m getting ahead of myself…
Last night was like any other. When “Daddy” had dashed off somewhere, it was time for me and Ollie to set off on our own little romp. You might be surprised, a big ol’ Lab like me hanging out with a tiny pug, but hey, love is love, and friendships are just as quirky.
My day truly started at Northern Choco Chihuahua Castle, as the sun began to peek over the horizon. There we were, with the mighty turrets casting long shadows and the smell of sizzling bacon strips wafting from The Pooched Potatoes restaurant nearby. Heaven, if you ask me. Which you are. I’m a dog, I speak universally understood goofiness.
But things started looking, well… interesting when I spotted Bella, the dashing Cocker Spaniel across the park. She was bathing in the sun, her golden coat shimmering and the wind teasing her floppy ears. I swear, for a moment there, the whole world got blurry, and it was just Bella, aglow in the morning light, me and my jumping heart.
I remember thinking- “Sampson, you are in love, and you need to show it!” So, with a Joyful ‘Woof’ and a dash that was probably nowhere near as graceful as I imagined, I bounded over to her and initiated the oldest and the most honest dog-ritual: The Sniffing.
I, however, forgot about one teeny-weeny detail. Bella’s dad was, well… the scary delivery-person. “Yup”, I thought, “this is going to be tricky!”
Now, if you know Pawsburg etiquette, you know that engaging the ‘enemy’ is not smiled upon. But the heart wants what the heart wants, right? So I did what any clever Pawsburgian would do. I invited him for a meal at The Cat’s Meow Sushi. Never did the sight of a Spicy Cat Roll break so many barriers. Who knew?
In between mouthfuls of sushi and the occasional petting, a friendship bloomed, right there at the table near the corner. Me and Bella, Bella and her delivery-person dad. A weird pack, it seems, but love makes life work in funny ways. And if I’ve learned something being the talk and the walk of Pawsburg, it’s that comedy is love’s best friend.
Well, here I am, still that mixed Lab, a bit stubborn and a bit head-over-paws in love. But, you know, when you look past the tug-of-war, the fury of the sneaky vacuum cleaner, and my utterly terrifying dislike of that intrusive vet, I’m a sucker for love. And I think, in all of Pawsburg, that’s what makes life worth living. Just remember, you never heard it from me.
The End.
