Roxy PawWord Story
“Hey Mom, explored Spencerville today with loads of sniffs, a dash to Bow Wow Burgers and even conquered Rain-invasion with a trip to the Woof and Whisker Wellness Center! Also, guess what? Found fur-bro Sammy there! Crazy, right? All in all, it’s a paradise here, just misses your belly rubs! Woofs and Kisses! – Roxy Foo-Foo”
“Well, here we are, straight into the heart of Spencerville,” I thought as Roxy and I strolled down the Bullmastiff Boardwalk. Roxy, known for her suave sun-tanned honey coat, scuttled around like a four-legged hyperactive, eagerly sniffing out the unique scents of Spencerville. We were off to Bow Wow Burgers, a gourmet eatery where Roxy was set to gobble down her usual of chicken nuggets topped with a dash of cheerios.
Keeping pace with Roxy was almost as demanding as uncovering the enigma that is the human condition or interpreting Schrödinger’s Cat for a pre-schooler. She was quite the character, wasn’t she? She was a conundrum wrapped in a golden-red enigma dipped in peanut butter, who thought the world was her own personal giant tennis ball.
An employee from Canine Couture Clothing passed us by, interrupting Roxy’s sniffing extravaganza to give her a good belly rub – proving the old adage false: you can buy friends, and they come in the form of happy tail wags and wet dog kisses.
On our venture, the sky decided to show its melancholy mood. It began sprinkling, which for Roxy was the equivalent of an extraterrestrial invasion. She hated precipitation with a vengeance that was reserved for her semi-annual ear cleaning and the insidious hidden medicine in treats trick.
“My dear Roxy,” I cajoled soothingly to my agitated friend, “this is just a slight drizzle. Consider it the universe’s way of pulling a harmless prank on us.”
Deciding to take a quick detour and retreat from the sprinkles, our next stop was Woof and Whisker Wellness Center where Roxy was known to indulge in a calming canine massage to distract her from the audacity of the rain.
Upon entering, Roxy’s eyes lit up like a thousand suns. Sammy, her fur-brother was there, energetically waiting for her. A camaraderie born out of shared experiences and mutual respect – or so it seemed to me. I’m convinced their main form of communication was a mix of fast tail wags and synchronized sighs. Nonetheless, seeing them together always warmed my heart.
In Roxy’s world, Spencerville was an eclectic mix of endless sunny spots for relaxation, unexplored forests to mark her territory, an abundance of her favorite meals, sporadic rain showers, belly rub giving friends, and the occasional prank of hidden medicine. At the end of the day, it was her paradise; a place where she was happiest, just waiting for the day when her family would come too.
And as I watched Roxy snuggling alongside Sammy in the sun-dappled backyard, I couldn’t help but think, bark in paradise, dear Roxy. Bark in paradise.
The End.
