Kaiya PawWord Story
“Hey Dad, spent the day hogging steaks, hooping at Bulldog Bay, and oh, just casually saved Spencerville from some skyglow alien invader! 🏀👽 All good now, planning for more steak and bball tomorrow. Catch you later! – Lil Momma”
Everything was perfect that morning in Spencerville – unnaturally perfect. I sat on the wooden porch, my Pit Lab twin Bella on my left, and Teddy, the giant gentle Mastiff, on my right. Today, kicking it at Western Labradoodle Lake was the agenda, much to Bella’s excitement and Teddy’s indifferent acceptance.
Before we sauntered off, we had our mandatory stop at Paws On The Grill. What’s a day without meaty steak or chicken? Eternally an adventurer I vouched for the steak, while Bella favored the chicken. By the looks of it, Teddy would eat a tire if it was grilled.
Our little parade ventured off to East Bulldog Bay. Now, the Bay wasn’t my favorite place due to my fondness for dry sand but if there’s a beach and a basketball, I’m game. Although Bella and Teddy had their turns chasing the ball, their less-than-graceful lunges never failed to humor me. Admittedly, I felt a surge of pride being the Basketball Diva of Spencerville, often recalling how I masterfully snatched the ball while my opponents dribbled aimlessly.
As evening approached, I noticed a strange glow in the sky. It was neither twilight nor was it lightning. The sky was clear, yet the glow intensified. Suddenly, a flash, and a spacecraft right above Choco Chihuahua Castle.
Teddy growled, Bella yelped. Panic was imminent. I, however, had an inkling that these beings—extraterrestrials or not—weren’t going to take to Spencerville’s friendly norms. The master plan was hatched. One significant advantage of being a Pit Lab Mix is the colossal strength and speed. Now seemed as good a time as any to use it.
“You guys,” I turned to Bella and Teddy, “We gotta make a run to Happy Hounds Dog Walking, drop a message to others. They need to find refuge.”
With a stern nod, we dashed towards Happy Hounds. As the glow hovered ominously, my mind raced: Who would fill the vacancy of our basketball games? Would Paws On The Grill be deserted? Who would nurse the broken spirits of Chitown, my Chihuahua housemate? These thoughts fueled my run, my paws creating furrows in the soil. Our mission was clear: Protect Spencerville, our home.
Running, sneaking, and delivering the message, we returned to see the glow dimming, the spacecraft taking off. We sighed collectively, prising our town free from alien invaders. While the town dealt with the shock, I solely considered it another adventure; an exciting detour on a normal day at Spencerville. Seated on the porch once again, I looked up at the sky, stars shimmering again. Order had returned.
Tomorrow was going to be another day. Alien or no alien, my plans were the same: East Bulldog Bay, steal a couple of basketballs, and perhaps, end the day with a fine steak at Paws On The Grill. After all, in my humble canine life, basketballs count as peace offerings.
The End.
