Poot PawWord Story
Hey Mom,
It’s Poot Loops here! So today went from zero to crazy when all the meat treats in Spencerville disappeared. Led my sibs on a wild goose chase only to find out Joey had them all along (don’t ask why or how!). Love that we cracked the case, but man, do I need some nap time. Also, Joey’s banned from peanut butter for a week – sweet puppy justice! Catch up soon.
Paws and licks,
Poot Loops. 🐾
Well, there I was sitting on my soft cushioned throne comfortably, in the shade my favourite tree at the backyard provided, luxuriating in the serenity Spencerville offers. Poot, at peace, they called it. My stuffed monkey – just within paw-reach if the mood arose for some desultory chewing.
Suddenly, Rooney came bounding from around the corner, interrupting the tranquility with his silly prancing. He was my brother alright – but always seemed to operate under a different subset of rules. “Poot! Gather everyone, we’ve got a situation!” he barked, not even attempting to catch his breath.
À meeting convened at the Pug Palace, with all canine siblings in attendance. Rooney proceeded to share the scandalous news. Someone had stolen all the meat treats from the Bark ‘n’ Roll. The news hit me hard, for the love I had for those tasty morsels was an open secret. Suspicions were cast towards Spike, ever the naughty one, but I knew better. Spike would steal a toy, not food.
And so, the day turned into a whirlwind of investigations. We sniffed around, scoured all corners of Spencerville, making inquiries at the Doggy Depot, asking the folks at the Spa for Paws and questioning employees at the Barking Boutique, only to hit dead ends at every turn. The more we searched, the angrier I became, but I knew this was not a quest I could back down from.
By late evening, we reached Bulldog Bay, and there laid our biggest clue – a peanut butter jar. Peanut butter! The scent was revolting, every fibre of my being wanted to flee, yet I had to press on. An image flashed in my mind – Joey, our sibling whom we had left behind. Joey who would eat anything – except meat.
With newfound resolve, we returned home to confront the culprit. Joey had the audacity to deny the allegations and in his defence, offered to take us to his secret stash of peanut butter jars. Reluctantly, we followed, our noses assaulted by the awful smells, but lo and behold, there they were, our beloved meat treats.
As promised by the legend of Spencerville, justice was found and the equilibrium restored. The restaurants would be stocked up, and so would our bellies. And even if Joey had wronged us, we knew he was our brother, and someday, we would help him see the dog he was. In our own revengeful stroll, we had found a purpose we never knew we had, united more than always. The sun was setting in Spencerville, and I returned to my backyard, a little more proud, a little more content, ready for another day in the life of Poot, the black pug.
And as for Joey, he was sentenced to the one thing we knew he hated – a whole week without his beloved peanut butter. Our own form of punitive justice. After all, he had wronged us, and it was only right we paid him back in the same coin. For a family is a family, with its highs and lows, and what better than sweet revenge served just as you like it!
The End.
